Extensive
studies of geological and biological information, as well as measurements of
atmospheric carbon dioxide content, indicate a sudden up turn of both carbon
dioxide and methane in the last century in conjunction with our ability to
retrieve and burn fossil fuels.
Please note that
the increase in methane is larger than CO2 increase although the contribution
to heating the atmosphere is less. Methane is of particular significance to
Alberta and is, I believe, responsible for helping to make Alberta the number
one province in greenhouse gas emissions.
