Monday, June 02, 2003 Re: Surfing the "green" waveDear Sir, Neil Frandsen ("True costs of green energy being ignored", Thursday, May 22, A8) raised many pertinent questions with respect to "green" energy and the need for alternatives when "the wind don't blow, the sun don't shine and the rain don't fall". One could think that, with all the local activity in wind electricity recently, those proponents might step forward to explain to Neil how "green" energy interacts with alternatives and storage to provide a continuous and reliable electricity supply. I've been waiting in vain. Do some proponents not sincerely support wind energy? Are they simply surfing the "green" wave to deflect environmentalists from criticizing their bread and butter activities involving the production and use of fossil fuels? What else could inspire a sly slogan such as "Ride the Wind" in connection with the source of electricity for Calgary's C-Train system? Yours truly,
Duane Pendergast
