Dear Editor,
During his press conference yesterday, former PM Jean Chrétien claimed he established the sponsorship program to save Canada. He defensively cited his hasty ratification of Kyoto as an example of his decisiveness and another of the good deeds comprising his legacy. No doubt he believes that decision was made to help save the world. It’s taken a decade and the Gomery Commission to debunk the sponsorship program. It may take two decades and another inquiry to debunk Kyoto. Let’s get started on that investigation now. We need to keep the few billion dollars so far pledged to Kyoto compliance from escalating to a ruinous burden.
