Re: “Getting on the green parade”, November 02 Discussion of climate change and greenhouse gas management has regressed to such a banal level of inanity that it is very difficult to maintain interest - let alone attribute credibility to the protagonists. Susan Riley’s article recycled once more the repetitive excretions. Once upon a time, there was a real study of actions Canada might take to manage atmospheric greenhouse gases. It started in 1997 and was called the National Climate Change Process. The extensive analysis and study associated with it was available to the public at the website www.nccp.ca. It was quietly shutdown sometime late in 2006 essentially losing the input of hundreds of contributors. I estimate that body of information cost Canadians hundreds of millions of dollars. The fact it is no longer available to researchers and the public is deplorable - but never made the news. I'm sure there is a very sad and sorry story there. Perhaps Ms. Riley’s talents could be put to better use finding out what happened. She might also recover a starting point from which rational discussion could proceed.
Yours truly,
Duane Pendergast
