30 Fairmont Park Lane S Re: Evidence should be sufficient for climate-change deniers Eric Williams, in his letter of 09/12/22 under the above title, appears to have been taken in by propaganda promulgated by true believers of carbon dioxide induced global warming catastrophe theory. A desperate and mean-spirited subset of such true believers labels anyone who questions the magnitude of carbon dioxide caused warming a ”denier” of climate change. Letters recently published by the Herald do not deny the existence of climate change. In fact, they have pointed out that there are many possible drivers of climate change and remind readers dramatic climate change occurred long before humans started to take advantage of carbon dioxide emitting fossil fuels. It is now becoming disturbingly apparent that scientists engaged in measuring global temperature have deliberately tried to suppress discussion and data that suggests it may have been higher than now just a few hundred years ago. That possible warm spell preceded our use of fossil fuels. Recently available emails exchanged between the scientists have been reviewed in depth by Terence Corcoran of the National Post in an article titled “Climategate - A 2,000-page epic of science and skepticism” dated December 19 and 21. Of course, Mr. Corcoran is not a climate scientist, nor am I. Having read many of the emails myself though, I find Mr. Corcoran’s discussion of them very sobering. Perhaps the emailing scientists should be the ones labeled as “deniers”. Herald readers inclined to believe tales of imminent doom and destruction from human induced releases of carbon dioxide might want to avoid Mr. Corcoran’s article. Their faith in global warming measurement and theory might be shaken.
Yours truly,
Duane Pendergast
